I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Shangri-La, enjoying its great location and comfortable accommodations. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the garden view from my upgraded room was lovely. However, I did notice that the standard rooms on the ground floor seemed a bit cramped and could use some attention. Overall, it was a nice experience, albeit with a few minor drawbacks. 😊

Rooms
8.0
After a slight hiccup with my initial room, I was graciously upgraded to a Club House room. This room had a beautiful garden view and offered all the necessary amenities. However, I did find the standard rooms on the ground floor a bit cramped and run down.
Service
9.0
The staff was courteous and always willing to help, making my stay enjoyable. Their willingness to assist with currency exchange also added to the convenience.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location is fantastic, situated near vibrant Thamel and other major attractions like the Royal Palace and Pashupatinath. It made exploring Kathmandu easy and accessible.
Dining
8.0
I found the buffet breakfast to be excellent, with a variety of options including both international and local dishes. The dining experience was overall quite satisfying!
Facilities
7.0
The facilities included a well-maintained garden and pool, though I did find the gym to be very small and lacking equipment. Still, the spa and hotel bar added to the relaxing atmosphere.

5.0/10

My stay at Hotel Shangri-La, Kathmandu was quite mixed. The rooms were spacious and stylish, but there were issues like a lack of hot water and some maintenance problems. The staff were mostly friendly and attentive, and the serene garden was a standout feature, ideal for unwinding.

Rooms
6.0
I found the rooms to be spacious and well-fitted, equipped with a television and a mini bar. However, the lighting could definitely use some improvement, and I had a few issues with the safe locker during my stay.
Service
7.0
The staff were generally courteous and helpful, but I experienced some lapses, like when my request for room change went unheard. Nonetheless, some staff went out of their way to accommodate my late check-out.
Location
6.0
The hotel is a bit far from the main city area, making it quieter but also limiting in terms of nearby shopping. It's a pleasant escape, though not close to major tourist spots.
Dining
5.0
The dining options were adequate, but the buffet didn’t quite live up to expectations. I found the quality of food could be better, as some items just felt mediocre.
Facilities
6.0
Facilities like the serene garden were fantastic for relaxation. However, room service could have been smoother, and a few amenities aren't quite five-star quality.

7.4/10

My stay at Hotel Shangri-La in Kathmandu was a mixed bag. While the staff were super friendly and attentive, and the lush gardens were stunning, the hotel itself feels a bit worn and could use some updates. The rooms, though clean and comfortable, didn't quite meet my expectations for a five-star experience.

Rooms
6.0
The room I stayed in was spacious with a nice garden view, but it felt dated and in need of renovation. There were some noticeable marks and a lack of finishing touches that detracted from the overall experience.
Service
8.0
The staff were absolutely amazing! They were kind, helpful, and always wore a smile, making my stay much more pleasant despite the hotel’s age. Mr. Bijesh at the front desk was particularly great in handling my check-in confusion.
Location
7.0
The hotel’s location is decent, set off a busy road but still close to shops and restaurants. Most rooms overlook the gorgeous gardens, which helps drown out the traffic noise.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast offered a buffet with a variety of options—definitely something for everyone. It was nice to have local and continental dishes all in one place.
Facilities
6.0
While the hotel provides basic facilities and services like room service, it lacks some modern perks you'd expect at a luxury hotel. I didn't notice anything special that set the Club Floor apart from the others.

7.2/10

I had a decent stay at Hotel Shangri-La, Kathmandu, where the lovely garden and pool area stood out. However, the rooms were a bit dated and could use some upgrades. The staff was helpful, but I had some issues with my requests, which put a dampener on the experience.

Rooms
6.0
My room was large but felt dated, with worn furniture and a noisy folding bed. While it had a cozy, traditional feel, the lack of cleanliness was a letdown.
Service
6.0
The service was mostly polite, but a waiter at the Horizon bar was rude, which wasn't cool. On the plus side, some staff members like Kabitha and Jyothi really made an effort to be helpful.
Location
7.0
The location was good, situated near many shops and restaurants, which was convenient for exploring. It's kind of like a calm oasis amidst the concrete jungle of Kathmandu.
Dining
7.0
Dining was buffet style with plenty of options, though I wouldn't say the food blew me away. It served both Continental and Asian cuisine, which was decent.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel has some nice facilities, especially the beautiful pool area and a lovely garden to relax in after a hot day, but room service could use improvement.

6.8/10

My stay at Hotel Shangri-La in Kathmandu was a mixed bag. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, which made my experience more pleasant. However, the hotel's condition was less than ideal, with outdated rooms and some maintenance issues that brought down my overall satisfaction.

Rooms
6.0
The rooms were clean and comfortable, but I found them to be outdated and poorly lit. There were some issues with the safe locker which remained unresolved during my stay.
Service
8.0
The service was a highlight of my stay. Rakesh and Rita at the front desk were particularly helpful, providing me with maps and valuable information. The restaurant staff, including Kabitha and Jyothi, were also friendly and always greeted me with smiles.
Location
7.0
The hotel is located in Lazimpat, which is a bit removed from the city center but close enough to enjoy the lovely gardens. It offered a peaceful backdrop, away from the congestion of Thamel.
Dining
5.0
While the dining options were available, the buffet spread did not quite meet my expectations with a lack of variety and quality, especially in terms of Continental offerings.
Facilities
6.0
The facilities were decent, but the lack of consistent hot water and the issues with the room's amenities made my stay less comfortable.
